The saliva of hepatitis B patients is not infectious because hepatitis B virus DNA cannot be detected in their saliva. This means that the saliva of hepatitis B patients does not contain the hepatitis B virus.
Therefore, the saliva of hepatitis B patients is not contagious. The hepatitis B virus primarily resides in the liver cell nuclei, blood, and certain bodily fluids of hepatitis B patients, such as semen and vaginal secretions.

In other words, hepatitis B can only be contracted through contact with blood or bodily fluids that contain the hepatitis B virus. For example, hepatitis B can be transmitted through blood transfusions, blood products, or sexual activity.
